Weddings

I have played weddings in New York City and the tri-state area for 25 years: ceremonies, cocktail hours and rehearsal dinners. Pedal harp suits the ceremony, Celtic harp a more traditional program, and electric harp a rock song for the first dance. I plan the music with each couple and will learn a song you choose.

I love LOVE! I take the time to put together music that makes the moment stand out. I have played in clubs all over New York City and the world, so rock tunes have a beat, popular melodies sing and classical pieces uplift.

If I can find the sheet music, I do not charge for arranging your song. For weddings on location I have smaller harps that fit as carry-on luggage to your destination. Smaller instruments are also great for Central Park weddings, forest locations and the beach.

Ceremony and cocktail hour

Ceremony: For wedding ceremonies I play at least 20 minutes of prelude, your march, the recessional after you have been pronounced married and at least 15 minutes of postlude while your guests leave for the reception. I can play the songs for you over the phone so you get exactly what makes you feel special.

Cocktail Hour: I offer an upbeat mix of classical, popular, Celtic and jazz standards and can add a special song to personalize your event.

Marching Harps: My students from the Irish Arts Center and I stroll with 26-string harps! If you are looking for an extravagant way to lead your guests from the ceremony to the reception or to greet them at the steps of the church, this is it!

Pedal Harp: my concert grand is a historic ebony and gold Lyon & Healy pedal harp.

Electric and Acoustic Celtic Harps: These harps are portable and best for beach weddings, outdoors and for intimate spaces. The Celtic harp I use is made in France and is truly beautiful. I can provide amplification if you are using these instruments for larger spaces.

Carolan’s “Eleanor Plunkett” and “Castle Kelly” on the Celtic harp, for a wedding:

26-String Harps: Perfect for a casual or semiformal wedding. Song selection is limited, but I can play standing up. I have used this harp with wonderful results in Central Park. I played a friend’s wedding in the Cloisters and it was one of the most heartfelt moments (I cried!).
